Welcome!
I’m Cheryl Pereira
I didn’t set out to become a therapist. For nearly 15 years, I worked as a Chartered Professional Accountant, helping individuals and organizations navigate complex financial and regulatory systems.
Another Way Financial Therapy Services grew out of the desire to experience more connection in my life and from seeing how often people struggle with their finances — not because they lack knowledge or discipline, but because no one has ever helped them explore the patterns and emotions that drive their financial behaviour.
In my work as both a financial professional and provisional psychologist, I noticed that traditional approaches often miss the connection between emotions and financial behaviours. Yet for most of us, our finances are deeply connected to our sense of safety, self-worth, and control.
I also understand that how we manage money is shaped by the way our brains process information, emotion, and stress. Neurodiversity and mental health conditions can significantly affect how we make decisions, plan, and follow through. When we start to understand these connections, we can move from shame toward self-compassion.
I strive to offer a space where we can talk about both the practical and the personal — where conversations about money are honest, compassionate, and free of judgment. If this resonates with you, please reach out. I’d love to chat about how I may be able to help you or your team move towards greater financial confidence.
